More Catching Up
Many moons ago I took a sewing class to make Amy Butler's Weekender Tote. I think it was early spring. My friend Heather was teaching it, I believe I talked her into it.
I showed the fabric awhile back. Here is the finished product.
Unfortunately I am not really able to claim this as my own FO. It was a tricky project for a beginner and my machine wasn't up to the challenge either. Many tears were shed. My mom took it home and asked her seamstress friend to finish it for me. I feared this might be the end of my sewing but I got back on the horse to make Clarabel's ballet bag. I am also gearing up to start a quilt soon and maybe even a Halloween costume.
Thanks for sharing all your opinions about gossip. There is a lot of wisdom there. I agree that there is a difference in talking about others and speaking disparagingly about them. I have been practicing Sophanne's keep your mouth shut mantra and it is working.

I love that fabric choice! Don't feel bad about having someone finish it for you, it was probably great expierience to try it at least. At least you got the finished product too:)
The main thing is that it got done and that you are now the proud owner of one seriously beautiful bag! That fabric is wonderful. And sometimes it's good to recognize the limits of the moment and to get a helping hand. I'm very happy to hear that you are looking forward to some more sewing though - you were on such a great roll. Can't wait to see what you come up with for Halloween. Costume making is well under way around these parts and I am definitely notice the need for advance planning now that we're up to 2 kids costumes for the first time.
Hang in there. I started sewing about a year ago and did the exact same thing. I bit off more than I could chew. I decided to take a step back and things went far smoother. The lesson: stick to skill appropriate projects and you won't get frustrated. You will be able to whip that bag up in no time!
Read your post about gossip. Its a terrible part of human nature...especially for women. My rule of thumb is to try and only say behind one's back what I would say to their face if they were there. Seems to be working:) I wouldn't worry about your kiddos. The fact that you see this as a problem and something you want to change means you are far further ahead than most.
Not sure how I landed here in your little corner of the world but I'm glad I did! Good to meet you.
it is wonderful. and i think that you should totally claim it as your own. with just a little help. next time, you will be able to do it completely on your own.
love that fabric.
What a great bag! Enjoy it!
Oh what a great tote, and considering all the pains that went into it, I vote it as your FO, for sure. Sewing is really frustrating for me too, if I am not making mistakes, the machine is freaking out. That's probably why I knit instead.
I still haven't finished my bag, hope to soon. Yours looks fantastic!
thanks alot for doing that... i am a teen and a bit of a rocker... but i have no one and know way of knowing how to do that stuff that i want to really badly... so thanks alot..
Yeah! That’s the spirit! Never give up no matter what. I must say that’s a gorgeous bag. You did an excellent job, well done.
Oh! This is a pretty bag. You did a great job you deserve a tap on the back. I’ll look forward on your new projects.
