I am so over this idea

The last 2 weekends I've spend a whole lot of time freezer cooking. Preparing meals to freeze. Tama over at The Den of Chaos was talking about Frozen Assets, cook for a day eat for a month. I checked it out of my library and gave it a go. I did chicken last weekend and ground beef this weekend. I certainly did not prepare a month worth of meals, maybe 12 meals with leftovers for lunch.

I'm not sure I like freezer cooking. It's a whole lot of work. I get together with my team of greatest friends once a month in a big church kitchen and cook our hearts out for 3 hours. It is a lot more social and I don't have to do the dishes all by myself.

Course I will likely really enjoy the meals.

A few FO's to share

Ken has been freezing in the night and he has to get up 14 times to put on more layers and it makes me crazy. So I sewed up some flannel jama pants. He enjoyed the photo shoot.
He also also started wearing more clothes to bed.
That's Laila's head, she's trying to get her mitts on the camera. She's working very hard on walking.

And special for Clarabel, a Valentine's Day dress. It also twirls. She insisted that the she model it with her pajamas.
I had some trouble with this. I didn't have enough fabric so I had to make a smaller size, it just fits. The shoulder has buttons and I had a whole lot of trouble with the buttonholes. Also I didn't hem the bottom, just left the raw edge cause I think it looks cute. Is that ok?

I tried freezer cooking once (when I was 8 months pregnant) and I found it to be a LOT of work as well. now I do some batch cooking here and there and freeze parts for easier cooking later. I don't have it down to a science yet, but I have to admit that it is sweet to be able to pull dinner out of the freezer and pop it in the oven.

I have been wanting to try freezing meals because I am always so busy and I hate thinking up dinner. I'll have to check the book out.
Cute flannel pants and dress! The dress bottom edge is cute and probably will be fine as long as your material isn't the kind that will unravel easily. If it is try just a line of stitches around the bottom edge to help keep the dress from getting shorter. A ZigZag stitch would work the best I think. Hope that helps.

I sometimes try to cook and freeze but I agree that it can be a lot of work. So you go great guns for a day but then it takes two days to recover from it...if that makes sense. At least I find it knocks me out.

I love the jammie bottoms and the dress. Great sewing!!!

The only place my husband DOESN'T wear pajamas is in bed. He works at home.

The dress is cute! I don't sew, but if it looks good, I say leave it.

The pj's and dress look great! Congrats - I find clothing the hardest to sew. That's why I like quilting - usually straight seams :).

I ALWAYS hate freezer cooking for a few days before and after Cooking Day.

Then I love it for about three weeks.

Then, I start hating it again. Oooooh noooooo...no...not already...uuuuuughhhhhhh... :-/

Cute dress. What a nice mom you are. Today I am bribing Claire "if you have a real, honest and for true NAP, you and mommy can make cookies for you to take to school tomorrow".

Mwa, ha, ha, haaaaa

I enjoy sewing; it is rewarding. I'm not great at it, I"m a beginner, but it still was fun.

I made a throw sized quilt with my daughters' flannel receiving blankets. We had gotten so many flannel receiving blankets, many that I barely used. So I saved them. Last winter I pinned and sewed 6 together, 2 across, 3 down. Then I sewed that piece to batting, and finally attached a fleece backing. I used yarn to tie knots at even spaces. Presto, the easiest (and first quilt) I ever made.

Cutest photoshoot ever!
Love the pj pants on the cute hubby. Freezer cooking sounds like it would really only be fun in the winter, but if there are a bunch of you, you could be quite productive.
