The Heathers

I spent an evening deleting pictures and made a little room. You know the ones where my eyes are closed or I have something in my teeth, pictures the world just doesn't need to see.

Anyhoos, I did it all so I could show you...

My lounge pants!! I'm also sporting my very best knit socks. My mom made them for me.

I finished them at my class Wednesday night and tested them out when I got home. They were hugemongous. My friend Heather came for lunch the next day. One of her many talents is working magic with fabric using a needle and thread, so I asked her advice on how best to make them me size.

I worked a little magic myself and voila, here they are. In case you are curious, I took out the waistband and cut off a chunk, then remade the waistband. It was tricky work for a beginner.

They are still a little roomy and somehow I made the waist a titch bigger. But after further consultation with sewing Heather, I will wash them and then take them in a bit.

Sewing Heather also assessed my sewing machine. Her expert opinion is that it is in great shape and I should not get sucked into the fancy features that my sewing teacher keeps talking about. She advises that I consider a serger if I get into sewing. Either way I must make more than one thing.

Next up... Either this or this.
One more thing. I have a little secret. I'm in a secret book club with my other Heather, my reading friend Heather. Our local library hosts a city wide book club and Reading Heather and I have gotten ourselves on the selection committee. I have all these books to read and then I have to share my opinions about them. It's like I was born to do this. OK, that's all I can tell you, forget I mentioned it.
Remember back in the summer I was all jazzed up about a novel writing course. It was cancelled, I've been meaning to say that for a while.

Ack! Love the pants, look at you, you are 'sew' cool. I am glad you didn't let the sewing store sucker you into buying a super fancy machine.
And a book club...intriguing!
Merry Christmas Kristin!
